Washington State small claims are filed in District or Municipal Court. Attorneys are not allowed to appear at the hearing. Washington has strong tenant protections — double damages plus attorney fees for wrongful deposit withholding. The $10,000 limit covers most consumer disputes. Washington State should not be confused with Washington D.C., which has its own separate court system.
